Last Friday, June 17, Birkigt participated in the delivery of the International Architecture Award Dom3 Prize 2016, of which we are sponsors. After supporting the first edition of the award in 2014 and witnessing its international success, we wanted to rejoin the project as Silver Sponsors for the second year.

The jury’s decision for the 2016 Marbella Dom3 Prize International Architecture Award (made up of Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, Rafael de la Hoz, Juan Gavilanes and Antonio Cruz, from the Cruz & Ortiz studio, among others), was announced during the gala.

At the award ceremony in the gardens of the Finca de la Concepción in Marbella, David Güell and Santiago Azor, founding partners of Birkigt, were in charge of delivering the 2nd prize of the DOM3 Prize 2016. Awarded to the “Domus Aqua” project by the Madrid studios CMA Arquitectura and Q Arquitectura. This edition’s first prize was the “Community by Design” project from the Marbella studio directed by the Belgian David Tun. The third prize was awarded to JRDR Arquitectura and Four or Nine from Shanghai for the “Tierra Nueva” project.

The 2016 DOM3 Prize award ceremony was attended by Julio Gómez Pomar, Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing and President of ENAIRE, Elías Bendodo, President of the Malaga Provincial Council, the mayors of Estepona and Benahavís, José María García Urbano and José Antonio Mena, the landscaper and president of the DOM3 Association, Laura Pou, among other authorities. Entrepreneurs and professionals from sectors linked to the design and execution, and marketing of high-end homes in the Malaga towns of Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís also met.

In this second edition of the DOM3 Prize, 145 participants from more than 25 different cities and 14 nationalities have gathered. National and international participation has positioned this award, born four years ago, as one of the incredible architecture competitions worldwide. One more year, it has been a pleasure for us to once again be part of the DOM3 Prize, which we have seen born and grow, and to support the Association of Entrepreneurs for High-end Housing DOM3.
